The eagle eyed among you will have noticed we didn't have a newsletter last month, which is as good an intro as any to the subject of empty committee posts! We still need volunteers for the following positions:
Publicity Officer – yes, the one that writes the newsletter . But also an opportunity to spend some of our marketing fund agreed at the AGM alongside the Membership secretary to promote the club and recruit new members.
Social Secretary – to continue the great work from last year and maintain a health series of activities at our social meetings (and beyond if the desire takes you). We already have a number of activities lined up so anyone volunteering will have a head start on the year and plenty of support.
Chairman – yes, I meant it when I said I would continue as acting Chairman! If any of you are interested, maybe we could look at the idea of a Vice Chair position to share some of the load with a view to taking over fully at the next AGM? This would provide continuity from year to year but keep the role fresh.
Upcoming Events – Above and Below (yes below!) the water

Some of us will be heading down to Vobby for a day of diving plus a free night dive before/during/after (not sure exactly when!) the firework display. If a free night dive and a good laugh with some club buddies doesn’t tempt you, how about the free burger they are offering? Contact Kev on email@example.com for details and the vobster web site http://www.vobster.com/ .
Next Meeting Wednesday Nov 7th
Next meeting will be at the Maiden Over. Bring your dive photos and videos on a memory stick and we’ll show them as part of an informal ‘you show me yours’ evening! I’m looking forward to a bit of a laugh so please bring some light hearted images as well as serious stuff! This is not a competition – just a bit of fun. Please note there will be no food provided at this meeting but you can order from the bar if you’re hungry.
For the December meeting we are planning a quiz night. Need to come up with a theme. Er....
Christmas Party. Date change. Now Friday Dec 14th
This year we plan to go to WAGAMAMA at the Oracle, Reading, for a bit of fun, food and drink. We planned to hold this on Saturday but due to the Scuba Santas event happening the following day we are changing to the Friday night for obvious reasons! Let Rob know at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested so we can plan for numbers.
DIVE: Scuba Santas at NDC Chepstow Sunday 16th Dec
This year the club is again asking for your support of the ‘original’ Scuba Santa’s event in aid of the RNLI. The event is at Chepstow on Sunday 16th Dec. Register at http://www.scuba-santas.co.uk/ and let me know you are coming on email@example.com so we can all meet up/co-ordinate travel on firstname.lastname@example.org . It’s a good laugh and for a good cause, so why not jump in?!
Don’t forget to check out the club social and dive calendars for more details of activities and keep checking back over the next few weeks as we build out next years dive schedule. We have some cracking trips up our sleeve for next year and will post details as soon as we finalise the arrangements.
